Here is a sample of the many types and models we build at MetalCraft Marine Inc.

All our boats can be tailored to meet your specific operating requirements.

Understanding a customer’s unique operating envelope and providing viable and cost effective design solutions is MetalCraft’s strongest suit.

MetalCraft boats are all over the world, from the Middle East and Africa to Panama, Guam, Alaska and the Canadian Arctic. Many of our boats are designed for equatorial and arctic conditions in the same boat, as you just might need in New York City or Washington DC. The company is just starting hull No. 485.

Kingston Series

See also our Kingston product page

The Kingston Series has been in our product line since 1987 and has had many successes, primarily in the Patrol boat market. The boat has been powered with outdrive, outboard, inboard, and inboard jet. It has been produced in size ranges from 22’ to 54’. The boat has very good handling characteristics in terms of tracking, speed out of the hole, wave handling, and turning radius.

The Kingston Series hull shape is a monohedron with a Delta Pad lifting plane (copyright 1987), and was originally designed for convertability to either jet or propellor propulsion. Its center tapered bottom planing flat is mandatory for clean water flow to center mounted jet intakes for prevention of cavitation. It increases flow to a twin installation and has proven unmatched for a triple jet or I/O installation. Through development it was discovered to be a major design component for jet and conventional drive systems for many areas of boat performance, primarily resulting in less hull drag, thus reducing horsepower and fuel, essentially a more efficient hull.

The Kingston design was selected by the USCG and the USN for multi-year contracts.

The Kingston Series is offered on our US Government GSA Federal Supply Schedule Contract NO. GS07F0084J.

Kingfisher Series

See also our Kingfisher product page

The Kingfisher/Umiak production series has been in production since 1989. Major upgrades were incorporated into the design and construction process (copyright 1994). These improvements have proven to be incredibly successful and a major breakthrough in Naval Architecture. Through this, MCM developed a much stronger and lighter hull than through conventional construction by increasing the thickness of the plate and frame while reducing frame spacing and thickness.

The by-product of this lighter/stronger hull is significant. It requires less horsepower and fuel to drive it and has a much higher cargo capacity. It can achieve very high speeds due to reduced hull flex. In terms of strength, the boat is amazing. We have used the boat in 3” of ice, and it can be regularly beached onto rocky shores or cement ramps. To better facilitate this we have incorporated a standard heavy duty grounding bar/keelson which provides significant protection for the hull as well as providing much greater directional stability for the craft. Since 1994 we have produced 131 Kingfishers. Most operate in very harsh environments.

The Kingfisher is offered on our Government GSA Federal Supply Schedule. Contract NO. GS07F0084J.

Barges

See also our Barges product page

MetalCraft Marine has a number of unique barge designs that can meet some of the toughest challenges for high load efficient work platforms. MCM has the engineering backup to maximize a payload and match a propulsion system that will provide high speed or optimum fuel economy.

MetalCraft offers four different barge hull designs, a flat bottom Sea Truck, where hull efficiencies are designed around max payloads and lifting options. Designs available from 24’ to 36’.

The Bullnose, a deep ‘V’ high speed, high wave, pick up truck on the water that drives like a boat not a barge. Designs available from 20’ to 34’.

The St. Lawrence Barge is a shallow ‘V’ high speed, high load barge designed for planing speeds in full load condition. It is easily driven on plane with very low horsepower ratings. Designs available from 30’ to 65’.

The Polar Barge is a catamaran barge in fixed or collapsible configurations. It is designed for planing or displacement operation and can provide a variety of speed and high load solutions with a wide range of power selections. Designs available from 24’ to 65’.

RIBs

MetalCraft has built a variety of different RIBs some under license, some of our own design. MetalCraft designs include the Manta and Kingston Patrol RIB. The Manta was originally designed as a SOLAS RIB in 22’ and 14’ SOLAS certified sizes. The Manta is available in size ranges from 14’ to 25’.

The Kingston Patrol RIB was originally converted to a RIB design because of its versatile platform, the Kingston hull has also been successfully cloned in sizes from 20’ to 54 feet. The Patrol RIB version has been built in sizes from 25’ to 34’ and propelled with jet, Outdrives and Outboard configurations. Its efficient hull shape permits a speed range up to 70 MPH.

The Kingston Patrol RIB was selected by the USN for the Force Protection Program which was deployed in the Iraqi war. It is
C-130 certified and is the largest full cabin air transportable boat in the USN small boat fleet. MetalCraft Marine is proud to be a part of the US WAR ON TERROR.

In 2000 MetalCraft designed and built, in conjunction with our US partner Willard Marine, the first ever USN 7M Standard Navy RIB in Aluminum/FRP hybrid construction. The boat met all of its design parameters and reached 56 MPH with inboard diesel/outdrives by Mercury Marine.
